In ancient times the lands between the rivers Rhine and Visla were inhabited by Celts. In the first millennium BC. from north invaded a Germanic tribe of (Alemanni, Bavarians, Yurings, USA, sacksi and others) and drove the Celts into Gaul. In the VI-VII centuries the tribal German unions developed Included in the Frankish state. In 843 it was divided into three parts, which are the countries France, Germany and Italy. After a series of wars, the German King Otto I founded the Holy Roman Empire, which lasted until 1806, and died. In the X-XV centuries parts of the lands of the Baltic and Slavic people were added to Germany.

 In the 16th century, as a result of the Reformation and the ensuing Peasant War, Germany disintegrated into Catholic and German principalities. The Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) brought the country to ruin and final decentralization. In the 18th century Prussia and Austria were in economic growth and were dominanting. In 1860-1871, after the victories of the Prussians in the wars with Austria and France, the leadership of Otto von Bismarck formed the united German Empire.

 After a period of powerful industrial development and colonial conquests, Germany started the First World War, but was defeated and lost all its colonies. The ongoing inter-economic crisis facilitated the coming to power of the fascist dictatorship, led by Adolf Hitler, which led to the outbreak of World War II. In 1949, the victorious countries divided Germany into West Germany FRG (US, British and French occupation zones) and Eastern Germany into the GDR (Soviet occupation zone). For 40 years, economic conditions have developed in a radically different society, separated by an inaccessible, strictly guarded border, part of which is the Berlin Wall. In 1957, West Germany became one of the six founding countries of the European Union.

  The end of the division occurred on October 3, 1990, when at the will of the German people and with the consent of the winning countries, the two Germany united into one state. In June 1991, the city of Berlin again became the capital of all Germany.
