Germany is all in the temperate climate zone but the relief and the distant Atlantic ocean affects the climate in different areas. Northern from the not very high North German lowland the climate is temperate maritime. The soils are poor and sandy, good for fodder crops, dairy cattle breeding and poultry farming. In the middle mountain part the climate is moderate-transient, there is not much rain. In the valleys near the mountains there are facilities for Agriculture. There are grown cereals and technical cultures. Also, livestock breeding is very well developed. In the southern, high parts of the country the climate is mountainous – much colder with a lot of rains. Because of the abundant moisture there are many natural grasslands and meadows where is developing the grazing livestock.
